How Passal works

  1. Know where to start.

One button for what’s next: due reviews and new cards, with the minutes they take, then a quiz.

  2. See what you don’t know yet.

Lectures listed shaky first, then untried. One tap starts the cards you haven’t tried.

  3. Nothing you miss gets lost.

Missed cards and quiz questions wait in Recovery until you get them right on a later day. How reviews and Recovery work.

  4. Tag the exam. Cards land before it.

Tag it in Passal’s calendar and pick its course. No lecture card is scheduled past the day before.

  5. Doubt a card? Check the slide.

Every card Passal makes opens the lecture at the line it came from. Keep, edit or trash it. Supported slides and source checking.

How does Passal know what I should study?

Today gives you one next step for the course you’re in: due reviews and new cards first, then new cards to check, then a quiz, then your next lecture. Progress lists your lectures shaky first, and misses wait in Recovery until you get them right on a later day. There’s no score or predicted grade.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every feature is free for 14 days, with no credit card. After that, Passal is $8 a month, one plan with everything in it. Cancel any time, and email within 14 days of a charge for a full refund.

Does it know when my exam is?

If it’s on your linked calendar. Tag the event as Exam in Passal’s calendar and pick its course, and no lecture card in that course is scheduled past the day before. An exam date you type in yourself shows a countdown.

Will it work with my school’s slides?

Yes, if the text is selectable. Upload a PDF, PowerPoint (.pptx), text or Markdown file. Recorded lecture? Upload its transcript. Scanned slides without selectable text don’t get cards made for them.

How do I know a card is right?

Every card Passal or your AI makes shows the line from your lecture it came from, and opens the lecture there. If Passal can’t match a card to your lecture, it leaves the card out. Your lecture is the source, not a medical authority.

Do I need ChatGPT or Claude?

No. Passal makes cards from your lectures on its own. For highlights, why explanations, case questions and cards aimed at your misses, connect Claude or an eligible ChatGPT account, or paste a prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot. Passal doesn’t charge for it.

Can I keep using Anki?

Yes. Keep your premade deck in Anki and study your lectures here, or import a deck (.apkg, .colpkg, .csv, .tsv or .txt) into a course. Imported cards start on a fresh Passal schedule, and there is no Anki export.

What happens to my files?

Your lectures stay in your account, and Passal doesn’t use them to train AI. Upload only material you’re allowed to use. Details are in the privacy policy.
