How do I turn lecture slides into flashcards?

1. Upload the lecture. Add a PDF or PowerPoint (.pptx) to a course. Text and Markdown files work too.
2. Look over the drafts. Passal makes flashcards and quiz questions from the lecture. Keep the ones you want, and edit or delete the rest. Only cards you keep go into your reviews.
3. Start reviewing the same night. Spaced repetition schedules each card, and the Today screen shows what’s due.

Which files work?

• PDF and PowerPoint. Upload the file your instructor posted. If you can select the text in the PDF, Passal can read it.
• Scanned slides need text. A scan with no selectable text won’t work. Use the original PowerPoint or a text-based PDF instead.
• Recorded lectures. Upload the transcript (.vtt, .srt or .txt) along with the recording.
• Notes. Plain text and Markdown files work like a lecture.

How do I know a card matches my lecture?

Every card Passal makes shows the line from your slide it came from, with a link to that spot in the lecture. If Passal can’t match a draft to your lecture, it leaves the draft out instead of guessing. If you edit a card, Passal marks it, because your edit may no longer match the slide.

That matters with lecture material: when a card looks off, you check it against the slide in a second instead of hunting through a 90-page PDF.

Does Passal make quizzes too?

Yes. Quiz questions come from the same lecture. Pick the wrong answer and Passal shows the right one with the line from your slide. Cards you mark Again or Hard and questions you miss are grouped by lecture on the Weak spots page, so you know which slides to go back to.

Can Passal plan my reviews around an exam?

The Today screen shows your due cards and your next exam. Link your calendar, tag the exam event in Passal, and Passal moves your lecture cards’ reviews earlier so they land before it. Adding an exam date to a course on its own only displays it; it doesn’t change the schedule.

Who is Passal for?

Medical and health-science students studying their own course lectures: the material your in-house exams test and board decks don’t cover. It runs in any browser on your phone or laptop, and you sign in with Google or Microsoft.
