Why use Passal if I already use Anki?
Anki is great for decks someone already made. The gap is your own lectures: making good cards from every slide deck takes hours each week. Passal makes cards and quiz questions from the lecture you upload, shows the line from your slide under each one, and schedules them with spaced repetition alongside the Anki cards you import.
How do I import my Anki deck?
- In Anki, export the deck as a package (
.apkgor.colpkg) or as text (.csv,.tsvor.txt). - In Passal, open a course and choose the Anki import.
- Check the preview. Nothing is added until you confirm.
Does my Anki review history carry over?
No. Imported cards start on a fresh Passal schedule because Anki due dates don’t carry over. Your deck in Anki stays exactly as it is.
Can I export Passal cards back to Anki?
Not today. Passal imports from Anki but doesn’t export to it. You review your lecture cards and imported cards together in Passal, on your phone or laptop.
What does Passal add that Anki doesn’t?
- Cards from your own slides. Upload a PDF or PowerPoint and get flashcards and quiz questions from it.
- The source under every card. Each card Passal makes quotes the line from your slide and links to it.
- Quizzes and Weak spots. Missed questions and cards you mark Again or Hard are grouped by lecture.
