How do I turn lecture slides into flashcards?

Upload a PDF or PowerPoint (.pptx) from your course. Passal makes flashcards and quiz questions from the lecture. Look them over, keep the ones you want, and edit or delete the rest. Your review set only includes cards you keep.

How does Passal know what I should study?

Passal uses spaced repetition to schedule your reviews, and the Today screen shows what’s due and your next exam date. If you keep missing the same question, Today can point you to it first, and the Weak spots page groups the cards and questions you miss by lecture.

Link your calendar and tag an exam, and Passal moves reviews earlier so they land before it. Built-in Pomodoro, timer and stopwatch modes track your study time.

Treat the plan as a guide for your week, alongside your syllabus and what your instructors emphasize.

How do I check a card?

Every card Passal makes shows the line from your slide that it came from, with a link to that spot in the lecture. If Passal can’t match a card to your lecture, it leaves the card out. If you edit a card, Passal marks it, because your edit may no longer match the slide.

When you ask about a card, Passal shows the part of your lecture that covers it. If your lecture doesn’t cover the question, it says “Not in this lecture” instead of guessing.

Can I use ChatGPT or Claude to make more cards?

Yes, though you don’t need to: Passal makes cards on its own. For more, copy a prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot and paste the reply back, or connect Claude (any plan) or ChatGPT (Plus or higher) once. Can I bring my Anki deck?

Yes. Import Anki cards into a course and study them next to your lecture cards. You’ll see a preview before anything is added. Imported cards start on a fresh Passal schedule because Anki due dates don’t carry over, and your deck in Anki stays as it is. Passal and Anki.

Good to know

• Scanned slides need text. If you can’t select the text in your PDF, Passal can’t read it either. Upload the original PowerPoint or a text-based PDF instead.
• Recordings need a transcript. Upload the transcript along with the recording.
• Your slide is the source, not a medical authority. A card matching your slide shows what the lecture said. It doesn’t guarantee the lecture is complete or current. Passal is a study tool, not medical advice.
• Upload only material you’re allowed to use. Studying a file in Passal doesn’t give you permission to share it.
